SHORT FILM - PETROL FOOD BEER: AROUND THE WORLD WITH AUSTIN VINCE

IN A JOYISH RUT

Although this short film is, technically, a documentary about a documentary, it is worth viewing if only for the approach to adventure riding promoted by Austin Vince. Vince, of Mondo Enduro fame, talks about his approach to adventure riding, drawing on the 1995 round-the-world motorcycle trip he did with his brother and friends and now promoted through his new job as an ‘evangelist’ for back-to-basics adventure riding; what he calls a ‘joyish rut.” Rejecting modern technological consumerism (you must get the best bike and most gear) Vince instead talks about the fun of back-to-basics adventure riding, exploring different cultures and the personal growth gained through riding a bike long distance. All you need is a cheap old dirt bike, some basic tools and a unique pair of overalls. A must watch for every adventurous soul.
