SHORT FILM - CAFE COWBOY

CRAFTING A CAFE RACER

Dustin Knott’s goal is “to create a machine that only has what it needs to exist, to work, to run.” The short film, Cafe Cowboy, produced in documentary format, tells the story of a craftsman with a love for British style cafe racers and vintage Honda motorcycles. Although only 10 minutes in duration, the film gets to the essence of custom bike building, in particular the sub-culture around cafe racer conversions of Japanese bikes from the 1970s. Filmed at work in his shop, driving an old pickup truck and riding a little Honda CB, with a voice over narrative taken from what appears to be an interview, Dustin Knott is clearly attuned to his craft as a bike builder. But beware when you watch this, as you’ll have a strong desire to go find an old CB to make into you’re own cafe racer.
