THE MOTORCYCLE IS BACK
This short film, to promote a new book on custom bikes, The Ride: New Custom Motorcycles and Their Builders, touches on an evolving custom bike builder counter-culture. With an emphasis on retro, employing a hand-made custom design approach, often producing stripped down, back-to-basics machines with a simple aesthetic, the custom bike movement is drawing young people back to bikes. People want to “get back to like the analogue; simple things, pistons and gears, and getting our hands dirty” says Roland Sands, a well known custom builder interviewed in the film. And the result is young people building bikes. This film provides the smallest glimpse into the ‘aesthetic resurrection’ of the motorcycle.
