The Dakar Rally seems to be mostly for the boys, but women enter the race and do well. Laia Sanz of Spain is expected to be fast in the 2014 Dakar. She will pilot a pre-production Honda CRF450 RALLY with Honda factory on-site technical support, although she is not a “TEAM HRC” factory rider. The Catalan is a highly respected trial and enduro rider, making her fourth appearance at the Dakar, hoping "for the top 25-30, but you have to also respect the Dakar! This year I don't have a rapid assistance team-mate and I will do my race on my own,” says Sanz. Honda’s purpose built rally-raid bike should go into production “in 2014 for teams and individuals who are aspiring to compete” like Laia Sanz.
