DECEMBER TRAVEL & MOTO VIDEOS

Skills, Phenomenology, and Motorcycles: Why following rules, then forgetting them and taking risks makes you a better rider.

A SELECTION OF 4X4, MOTORCYCLE ADV, AND OVERLAND YOUTUBE VIDEOS FOR DECEMBER

The videos we have selected for this month have a focus on overland travel, using 4X4s and motorcycles, in exotic locations.

For December, we have four videos covering 4X4 action in Australia and overland travel through West Africa, a long distance Eurasia adventure motorcycle ride, and a short road trip on a Triumph Tiger.

FORGING A NEW TRACK IN THE TOP END

From the YouTube channel of Australian 4WD Magazine, an entertaining video following Shaun and Graham looking to create a new off-road track in Lorella Springs, the Top End of Australia, “following in the footsteps of the famous explorer Ludwig Leichardt, they’re battling untouched wilderness, wild creek and river crossings and rocky expanses that have never before seen the treads of a 4WD.” High quality, professionally produced content, with an Australian sense of humour, and some great tips for off-road enthusiasts.

NIGERIA AFI MOUNTAIN DRILL RANCH

Dan is driving his modified Jeep Wrangler through Africa, hoping to solo circumnavigate the continent. He is currently heading south down the West Coast of Africa. You can follow his journey via his blog The Road Chose Me , along with some interesting first person, short documentary style video clips on his YouTube channel.

APACHE TRAIL TRIUMPH TIGER 800 MOTOGEO ADVENTURES

Jamie of MotoGeo takes a Triumph Tiger 800 on a road trip; the first stop is at the Lucas Oil Off-Road Series. Then he’s off to ride the historic Apache Trail in Arizona. A fun to watch, mini road trip motorcycle documentary. More information on the Apache Trail can be found here.

SIBEXTRAIL 2012

Follow Walter and Terry as they ride the Sibirsky Extreme Trail, filmed in 2012. The first episode introduces the riders, their bikes, an insight into the prep work required for such a journey, and details of the route across Eurasia. If you’re into motorcycle overland travel, ADV style, then this series is a must watch. No support vehicle or camera crew, just a couple of riders and their bikes, with a massive sense of adventure, and video documentary skills.
