APRIL TRAVEL & MOTO VIDEOS

Skills, Phenomenology, and Motorcycles: Why following rules, then forgetting them and taking risks makes you a better rider.

A SELECTION OF MOTORCYCLE TRAVEL VIDEOS FOR APRIL 2018

The four videos we have selected for this month introduce motorcycle touring as a fun way to see the world.

An Austin Vince (of Mondo Enduro fame) interview sets the stage for adventure motorcycling, followed by two videos documenting motorcycle journeys in Vietnam, a country where the motorcycle rules, and to finish, an interesting instructional video on how to ride a Ural side car, for the traveller that wishes to take a friend on their next bike trip.

RIDERS: AUSTIN VINCE

Austin Vince, two time round-the-world adventurer and filmmaker of the fantastic Mondo Enduro moto documentary, talks about how he got into motorcycle travel. Based on an interview format, this video covers some background on the Mondo Enduro project, the Terra Circa trip, and the Mondo Sahara expedition, along with some wise words on the value of long distance motorcycle travel.

MOTORBIKING VIETNAM

A first person perspective on motorcycle touring in Vietnam. The approach is rather simple: arrive in Vietnam, hire motorcycles, and go riding. This video follows a traditional documentary style with interviews and voiceover narration to add context to the story. And there’s lots of imagery of travelling in Vietnam and its people.

VIETNAM MOTORCYCLE TRIP

Vlog style video with high production values, documenting the common Ho Chi Minh to Hanoi road trip on rented motorcycles/scooters. A fun introduction to motorcycle touring. Visit their YouTube channel for other videos covering the full Vietnam trip.

HOW TO RIDE A SIDECAR MOTORCYCLE

With a 1950’s government instructional film feel, this video from Ural provides an informative and fun introduction to the abilities, and riding techniques, required to master the side car motorcycle. Like all skills, good instruction and practice will result in safe and fun three wheel adventures.
